Once you have decided which type of Pet Carrier you prefer, here’s some suggestion when choosing the carrier for your pet.
A. Consider the size of your pet.
Measure your pet’s length when he lay flat and the width so that the carrier your choose are in comfortable size for them and narrow down your options. Bring your pet along in you can, most pet shop allow your pet to try the carrier before you decide to purchase. You can look at how your pet feel about the carrier and if he is comfortable to stay long in it.
B. Weight of the carrier
Make sure it is lightweight since you will be carrying your pet in it, yet durable for your usage. With material make for easy cleaning is best to keep it nice & hygienic for your pet to be in.
Carrier bag using fabric is easily dirty but it can easily go into the washing machine, so make sure you discipline yourself to do frequent laundry.
C. Collapsible/Storage option
Shop for a collapsible or multi-purposes carrier, especially if it is meant for larger size pet. So that you can save on space when they are not in use.
D. Ventilation
In Singapore weather, make sure the material use is suitable and ventilation panels are make available to cool your pets.
E. Airline regulation
If you are shopping for a carrier to go on flight, check out the airline regulation before your selection.
F. Usage
Do consider your requirement of a carrier. Will your pet be in the carrier most of the time, or just from places to places. If your pet is going to be in the carrier most of the time, example like your hours of shopping; consider a carrier which it could lay flat on the base to rest. If you only need the carrier for short trip in car rides, you can have a smaller carrier where they could just sit in them and have their heads out of the carrier for viewing. (normally for dogs, not advisable for cats & smaller pets)
In Singapore, you can find the pet carrier in most Pet shops. You can also try Pet Farm, veterinarians or online for more "boutique type" carrier bags. Since Singapore do not have any manufacturing plants for carrier, do expect the prices will generally be on a higher-side and depending on the brands, sizes, material used and quality.
